Where Swiss and international stories meet, BIFF celebrates the power of cinema to inspire conversation, foster understanding and connect communities.

The Bern International Film Festival (BIFF) is a non-profit cultural organisation based in Bern, Switzerland. Founded to promote film, culture, education and international cultural exchange, BIFF provides a platform for filmmakers and audiences to connect through the shared language of cinema.

Our mission is to champion filmmakers from Bern, across Switzerland and around the world, while creating opportunities for discovery, dialogue and collaboration. Through screenings, filmmaker Q&As, workshops, networking events and awards presentations, we aim to showcase outstanding cinema and support emerging and established talent alike.

Accessibility, inclusion and cultural exchange are at the heart of everything we do. We believe great stories should be accessible to everyone, regardless of background, language or circumstance. By bringing together local communities, international guests and the wider film industry, we hope to create a festival that reflects the diversity of the world around us.

Situated in the heart of Switzerland's capital city, BIFF seeks to position Bern as a meeting place for creativity, storytelling and international collaboration. We are committed to supporting Bernese and Swiss filmmakers while welcoming new voices and perspectives from across the globe.

As we prepare for our inaugural edition, we invite filmmakers, audiences, partners and supporters to join us in shaping a new chapter for cinema in Bern.

Welcome to the Bern International Film Festival.
